Office Friendly Earrings

Monday through Friday, the daily question ensues: “What am I going to wear to work today?†Generally, the idea is to look pulled together and professional, yet stylish and unique to our own personality. Jewelry that is work-friendly, particularly earrings, have always left us wondering – “What’s acceptable, and what should I leave for the weekend?†Here, we provide some general rules-of-thumb for you to follow, and still look fabulous:

Drop earrings– It’s perfectly okay to wear a pair of dangly earrings to the office. Generally, a 1-2†drop is fine. Anything more than that and you’ll probably be pushing it. Drop earrings are a fantastic way to incorporate some color in your outfit with colored stones or metallics. For example, dress up a white shirt and khaki skirt with coral colored enamel beaded earrings. Or, look pulled together on casual Friday with turquoise teardrop earrings and a neutral colored peasant blouse with tailored jeans. When you have to don meeting attire, consider metallics that will add interest, such as resin beaded drop earrings or dainty gold leaf drops.

Hoops – Small hoops are also office-friendly. Take First Lady Michelle Obama for example, she is often seen wearing small gold or silver hoops with a pearl necklace. Hoop earrings are modern and classy, as long as they are not larger than a quarter in size. Don’t be afraid to try textured or muted metals to tone down striped or patterned blouses.

Stud earrings – These favorites always top the list of office jewelry staples. However, this year, play with size and shapes. Try larger beads or carved rosette stones for something a bit more fun. Or, consider delicate shapes like starfish or knots.

Office jewelry has evolved tenfold from the 50s and 60s, so enjoy this freedom to express yourself in a classy, chic and all-knowing fashionable way.
